MEC, Inc. was contracted to perform lead paint abatement and demolition of a 450 ft. antenna tower at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The project was made more difficult because the tower was adjacent to buildings that had to be protected from any falling debris or accidental drop of components.
Plywood and poly were used to cover and protect 80,000 sq. ft. of roofing during the work. Disassembly of the tower was accomplished by disconnecting and lowering the tower in 30 ft. sections that weighed approximately 4,500 lbs. each.
